Centro used to be executive body for integrated transport in the West Midlands and was one of the leading champions of providing public art on the public transport network. Many stations serving bus, train and Metro light rail services have benefited from public art incorporated into their design.
The aim has been to create an enjoyable and quality travelling environment that is also safe and secure. Much of this artwork has been funded in partnership with other agencies and private sector companies, resulting in many successful collaborations.
Centro became Transport for West Midands upon the creation of the West Midlands Combined Authority in 2016.
